On 15th January 2019, the Charles Bebeye Ndiomu Foundation awarded scholarships to 23 children of some of the deceased rank and file of the Nigerian Armed Forces to commemorate the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, in an awards ceremony held in Lagos.
The Foundation celebrated the 6th edition of the awards which have been given away annually since its establishment in 2014. Trustee Manager to the Foundation, Vetiva Trustees Limited, in a statement by its representative, Theresa Orji, announcing this year’s awardees, stated that “the Foundation was happy to continue doing its part in ensuring that the children of our nation’s fallen heroes have access to education”.
The Foundation commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for its continued co-operation and assistance in the dissemination of information as well as the collation and verification of the recipients. Orji expressed the Foundation’s profound gratitude to the various Divisions of the Armed Forces involved in ensuring that the Foundation’s objective for the Awards is achieved from year to year.
As with previous awards, recipients of the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Scholarship awards hail from different states of the federation.
The Charles Bebeye Ndiomu Foundation was launched in 2013 to immortalize Major-General Charles Bebeye Ndiomu (CFR, FSS, MNI), who apart from being a military top-brass was a silent philanthropist with a passion for education and religious causes. The Foundation’s mission amongst others, is ensuring access to quality education for all in an environment where international best practice is standard - an ideal for which Major-General Ndiomu stood for during his lifetime.
